How to read country indicators
한국어Here is what the indicators commonly used to compare countries mean. No single number tells you good or bad, so it helps to look at several together.
What each indicator means
- GDP per capita (current US$)A country's total value added in a year, divided by its population, in that year's US dollars. Because it is not inflation-adjusted, exchange rates affect it.
- Life expectancy at birth (years)The average number of years a baby born that year is expected to live. It reflects health care and living standards together.
- Population, total (people)The number of people living in that country. It is a baseline for gauging economic scale and market size.
- Individuals using the Internet (% of population)The share of the population that uses the internet. It shows digital access.
- Inflation, consumer prices (annual %)How much prices rose over the year. For this indicator only, lower is generally more stable.
